Decades-old gutters and what’s behind them
Many Farmington Hills homes still have sectional gutters that went up decades ago, or a mix of runs added and patched over the years. By now the joints leak, the spikes have worked loose, low spots hold standing water, and sliding snow has bent the front edge. Some runs are too small for the roof above them, so they overflow in every heavy rain.
The bigger problem is usually behind the gutter. Years of overflow soak the fascia board until it softens and rots, and rotted wood can’t hold a hanger. That is why gutters keep coming loose even after they are re-nailed.
When we replace gutters, we take the old ones down, check every foot of fascia, and photograph any rot before replacing the bad sections. Then the new seamless gutters go up on hidden hangers, sized and pitched for the roof, with downspouts that carry water away from the foundation. If the roof edge needs attention, such as missing drip edge or damaged shingles at the eaves, we show you that too.

When Farmington Hills gutters need replacing
One of these is often a repair. Several together usually mean replacement.
Sagging or pulling away
Gutters that dip or lean out between hangers no longer hold their pitch, so water sits instead of draining.
Leaks at every seam
Sectional gutters with many joints drip once the sealant ages, and resealing them buys only a season or two.
Bent by ice & snow
Snow sliding off the roof and ice in the trough can crush, twist or kink gutters past straightening.
Rotted fascia
Soft, stained or crumbling fascia means water has been getting behind the gutter for a long time.
Undersized for the roof
If gutters overflow in every heavy rain even when clean, they can’t carry what the roof sends them.
Water at the foundation
Pooling, washed-out mulch or a damp basement often trace back to failed gutters and short downspouts.
Which fix fits your gutters
We don’t start from replacement. If your gutters are the right size, still hold their pitch and only have a few problem spots, a repair is the honest answer and we’ll tell you so.
Replacement makes sense when the problems are everywhere at once or when the fascia behind them has failed. And if your roof is near the end of its life, it can be smart to replace both together, since the gutters come off for the new drip edge anyway. You’ll see photos of what we find and get the options in writing.
Fascia repair is part of the decision. If only a short stretch of board is soft, it can be replaced without touching the rest of the system. If rot runs along most of the house, the gutters have to come down anyway, and that is usually the right time to put up new seamless gutters sized for the roof instead of rehanging old ones.

What our customers say
Real reviews from homeowners across Metro Detroit.
“Kincaide did a phenomenal job fixing up my garage roof and siding. They also cleaned up the area after so my dog wouldn’t get hurt. Everytime there was any issue found during installation, they provided picture evidence. They also were the best cost when compared to other companies. Highly recommend.”
“Kincaide roofing went above and beyond our expectations. Scott (the owner) took pictures of every step and fix he made. They were punctual, thorough and very professional. No B.S. with Scott, the communication was straight forward and gave us briefings every night before they left.”
“Very awesome, professional experience with Kincaide!!! Scott and his crew is wonderful. They do good work, really put things in terms so that people can understand things better. We will definitely be sticking with KINCAIDE!!!”
Signs your gutters are done
Michigan winters finish off gutters that have been struggling for years.
On Farmington Hills homes, we often see gutters that made it through many seasons only to give out after one hard winter: ice that filled the trough, snow that slid off the roof and bent the front edge, and leaves that froze in place and turned a slow drip into a leak at every seam.
If you see any of the signs below, a replacement may make more sense than another round of repairs. We give you a straight answer either way.
Sagging runs
Gutters pulling away from the house, often because the fascia behind them has rotted.
Leaking seams
Drips at every joint of old sectional gutters, staining brick and siding.
Undersized gutters
Runs that overflow in every storm because they are too small for the roof above.
